If you haven’t visited the Fred A. Erb Arboretum lately, this spring is the perfect time to rediscover this hidden gem. Thanks to the generous support of the Fred and Barbara Erb Family Foundation, Oakland County Parks, the Royal Oak Civic Foundation, AARP, and the Royal Oak Nature Society, the arboretum has undergone exciting improvements that make it more inviting, educational and beautiful than ever.

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a casual walker or a family looking for a peaceful outdoor escape, the revitalized arboretum offers something for everyone.

With improved walking paths, expanded native tree plantings, new seating areas and new interpretive signage, visitors can learn more about Michigan’s rich biodiversity while enjoying a scenic stroll. As a community committed to sustainability, these updates align with Royal Oak’s mission to protect and celebrate our natural environment.

What’s New?

Thanks to the support of local foundations and organizations, the arboretum now features:
100 new trees
Expanded native plant gardens
New wider, hard surface walking paths
Educational signage
Restoration of natural areas
