Jackson and Brooklyn Sage have been a tag-team success story during their four years at Southgate Anderson. The brother-sister team even made history by being the first twins (male/female) to place at the MHSAA State Wrestling Championships.

Their success, both in the classroom and on the athletic fields, is a tribute to their hard work, commitment to the task at hand and pushing each other to be the best they can be.

“My brother has helped with my success because specifically for wrestling, he was the one who helped me get back into it,” Brooklyn said. “Once I decided that I wanted to come back to my wrestling career, my brother helped teach me many moves that greatly impacted my success and skill level within the sport. My brother also keeps me in check for school as we always are competing, whether it be for higher grades or test scores. This is a fun way that helps us stay motivated to be able to do the best work.”

Jackson feels the same way about his twin sister.

“She has impacted/helped with my success because she pushes me every day to do my best,” he said. “One thing I’ve learned from her is that she will always be there to help me and do whatever she can to see me succeed.”

Both Jackson and Brooklyn earned All-State wrestling honors again this year as seniors. And both are clearly taking advantage of everything high school has to offer.

Jackson was a four-time state qualifier, two-time district champion, regional champion, league champion and racked up 175 career wins in wrestling. He was fourth at states his senior year at 190 pounds. As the starting quarterback for the Titans, Jackson was All-Region and holds seven school records for football, including most touchdown passes in a career. He also maintains a 4.0 GPA, is in National Honor Society and participates in many other school groups.

Brooklyn, who has a 4.1 GPA, also went to states for DECA (2024) and this year qualified for Deca Nationals in Orlando. In wrestling, Brooklyn is a district champ, two-time regional champ and is the first Southgate female wrestler to be a three-time state placer. She also cheered, plays softball, is a member of the National Honor Society and is vice president of Class Congress and commissioner for Link Crew.

Brooklyn and Jackson also were voted by their classmates as homecoming king and queen this past year.

“What I’m most proud of during my time at Anderson is the fact that I have been able to help individuals grow their skills, and I was able to feel so loved throughout the process,” Brooklyn said. “Being able to win homecoming queen showed me how much support I have from the students, and I am so proud that I could be even a small reason to impact the success of a student or athlete.”

Brooklyn’s plans after high school are to attend a university and study sports broadcasting. She hasn’t decided if she will continue her athletic journey in college, but is excited about the process and all that is to come.

Jackson does plan on playing sports at the next level – and has several offers on the table.

“My plan after high school is to go to college and play football while earning my degree in whatever field I choose to pursue,” he said.

And even if they part and go their separate ways, they will always have each other’s back, support and love.
