Zsaniya “Zsa” Jacob opened Only Odds and Herbz as a love letter to nature and nostalgia – a place where vintage charm meets the healing power of herbs. She first started online in 2022 and brought it to life as a physical storefront on May 24, 2025, on Fort Street in Wyandotte.

“It’s a cozy, welcoming space designed to blend vintage charm with herbal education and natural healing,” Jacob said. “Every item in the store – from the décor to the jars and furniture – is vintage, handpicked to capture the beauty and character of the past. I believe both herbs and antiques carry energy and stories, and together they create a truly warm, comforting environment that feels timeless.”

Only Odds and Herbz certainly has its own unique energy and vibe. With over 200 herbs, customers can purchase individually by the ounce or as part of a custom pre-blended herbal formula.

“The shop stands out because it combines old-world aesthetics with modern holistic wellness,” Jacob said. “I’m deeply passionate about teaching others how herbs can naturally support physical, mental and emotional health.”

Only Odds and Herbz offers a variety of alternative organic and metaphysical health products that treat the person, not the condition.

“We believe that you are not living your best life possible unless your mind and body are completely healthy,” Jacob said. “Have some fun while you're on this journey to a healthy lifestyle and discover a world full of oddities.”

Some of the more popular items at Only Odds and Herbz include handcrafted herbal teas and tinctures, vintage tea sets, and unique holistic blends. They also carry vintage décor, collectible barware, crystals, and other curiosities that reflect the “odds and ends” spirit of the shop.

“Many people are surprised to learn that I offer custom herbal blending, where I work with customers to create personalized formulas,” Jacob said. “I also provide educational support to help others learn more about herbs, natural health and mindful living.”

Jacob, a native of Grand Rapids, is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in business communication with a concentration in communications. She also is a certified herbalist, which strengthens her knowledge of plant-based healing and natural wellness.

Jacob set up her shop in Wyandotte because it's “such a vibrant, close-knit and creative community.”

“The people here appreciate authenticity and craftsmanship, and I love how supportive the city is of local small businesses,” she said. “There’s a real sense of pride and connection here that makes it the perfect home for my shop.

“Running a small business in 2025 definitely comes with its challenges – balancing costs, navigating supply chain changes and competing with large online retailers. But the reward of connecting with customers, inspiring others to explore natural wellness and building something authentic far outweighs the difficulties.”
