Life is good when you can combine family and work into one seamless environment, where both places are filled with joy, accomplishment and community. So life is good for Brian D. Goodwin, owner of Goodwin, Lademan and Associates, Inc.
“I continue to feel blessed,” Goodwin said. “It’s an amazing thing to have a family run agency where our clients are happy and I have ample opportunity to spend time with my wife and 4-year-old son. Everyone here helps each other out to make sure the work gets done at the highest level for our clients. So much of the time, in an office like ours, your personal and business communities overlap and I love it.”
The roots of Goodwin, Lademan and Associates, Inc., go back to 1947, when Linda Lademan’s parents, Lawrence and Betty Lademan, started an insurance agency in their basement on Dasher Street in Allen Park. The thriving business eventually moved to Southgate, and when Linda’s parents retired, they left a multi-million-dollar agency as the second generation stepped into ownership. When Linda Lademan and David Goodwin took over they moved the new business with the new name Goodwin, Lademan & Associates, Inc. – to Taylor in 1999. They moved to Allen Road in Allen Park in 2021.
The business, first purchased by David and Linda from Linda’s parents, has since been acquired by their son Brian, who now serves as president and continues to lead the company forward.
Goodwin, Lademan & Associates, Inc. represents multiple carriers and offers quality insurance coverage tailored to each person’s needs and budget. The full spectrum of insurance and financial services offered includes Business Coverages, Pet Insurance, Personal Coverages, Health Insurance, Disability Insurance, Travel Insurance and Employee Benefits.
New technology, legislation and evolving pricing systems have brought change to the insurance industry. Brian is enthusiastic and optimistic about the future of Goodwin, Lademan & Associates, Inc.
“Our agency stands out against others in part because my father has always been a tech savvy early adopter, and he’s matched his considerable knowledge about insurance with an earnest embrace of change,” said Brian, who is moving forward with those lessons. “I am also determined to maintain the agency’s heart in the way it has been nurtured by my mother, Linda Lademan. I believe her major drive has been ensuring we don’t lose our people-centric approach.”
There are many other advantages of using a local, independent insurance agency, including their dedication to keeping up with new laws that can greatly impact a person’s insurance plan. For example, Michigan’s No-Fault Auto Insurance Reform law, which took effect in July 2020, allows drivers to reduce their premiums by opting out of or limiting the coverage you would need if injured in an auto accident.
“People need assistance in understanding the changes in the new law,” said David Goodwin. “It used to be a lot easier to make sure the members of your family were covered with no gaps, but now it is impossible to properly cover some non-resident family members on your policy. It’s important people go over this with their agent.” It all comes back to where it all started – family.
“David Goodwin and Linda Lademan are amazing parents who have supported me in developing the technical acumen, breadth of character and confidence to play this key role for our agency’s latest chapter,” Brian said. “We’ll have more tools at our disposal to help a growing family of clients and the extra agents required to continue doing what we’ve always done: embrace change, embrace people, embrace community.”
