Bovitz family continues tradition of serving Canton

Beyond his expertise in accounting and tax services, CPA Rob Bovitz is equally committed to creativity and giving back to the community.
This past year, Bovitz participated in the Village Theater Cabaret for the American Cancer Society and performed the role of Jacob in the Evalino Productions’ staging of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at Canton’s Village Theater.
“Givers gain. You can never give more of your time and resources than the benefits you and those you help receive,” Bovitz said.
Since 1961, Bovitz CPA, PC hasbeen providing income tax preparation for families, businesses, nonprofits and homeowners’ associations. In 1998, they expanded with their Canton office.
The business also offers outsource controllership for businesses, payroll services and political campaign financial reporting.
Bovitz CPA focuses on small business, self-employed individuals and the impact on their personal income tax.
“Clients want a professional to be there as a hand holder to help them through tough times and to be proactive,” Bovitz said. “We’re helping businesses and families survive and thrive.”
On top of his commitment to his clients, Bovitz makes it a priority to give back through community service. He’s involved with the Rotary Club, Partnership for the Arts and Humanities, the Catholic Youth Organization and was a driving force that helped initiate the Village Theater at Cherry Hill.
Bovitz, who majored in accounting and minored in theater at the University of Detroit, started working in his dad’s office in December 1977.
In 1961, his father, Bob, founded Bovitz CPA, PC. He was highly involved in the community, serving with the Jaycees, being appointed to the Trenton Planning Commission and serving as mayor of Trenton from 1977 to 1983.
He also chaired the Michigan Municipal League and SEMCOG.
“Neither of us thinks of being a CPA as a job, it’s about being a people facilitator,” Rob said.
This mindset led Bob into his next journey.
“When my dad turned 60, he said, ‘I’m only two-thirds done,’” Rob said.
The first third of Bob’s life was spent raising his five children, the second third was building a CPA practice and he committed his final third giving back to the church. He began seminary school in 1995 and became ordained a permanent deacon in 2000.
On June 13, 2025, Bob passed away peacefully at 89 years old, but his legacy and commitment to serving others live on through the Bovitz family.
With his father’s influence at the forefront, Bovitz continues to serve his clients and community with a passion that won’t fade.
