Green spaces to recreate are embedded in our Northville DNA, including over 750 acres of Parks and Recreation land, 950 acres at Maybury State Park and the linear Cass Benton Park on Hines Drive.


Place Making areas in the Ville

River Park – Our newest park, opening in June (River Street/Seven Mile – 10 acres)
- Creek and Rouge River on premises
- Miles of pathways and step-down areas to rivers
- Two 50 ft. by 10 ft. pedestrian bridges crossing the river with artfully built abutments
- Historic log cabin (welcoming center)
- First of five riverwalk sections creating a pathway system through town

Ford Field (6 acres)
- Rejuvenation of Ford Field is underway, featuring a beautiful ADA entryway, overlook sunrise vista with revised fencing, a waterfall, new playscape and permanent restrooms.

Ford Field East (4.5 acres)
- Ford Motor Co. donation to city (waterfall, waterwheel and pond)
- SEMCOG grant of $1.2M assisting in renovation.

Mill Race Village (12.5 acres, including pond)
- The Mill Race Village is an outstanding area to absorb local history.

Central Park – Between Cady and Beal St. (2 acres)
- Opening Late summer – three-tiered park activated by Parks and Rec.

Farmers Market Area (5 acres) – Trailhead (Seven Mile/ River St.)
- The “Community Market” is connected to Hines Park’s trails and has hosted the Chamber’s Farmers Market, drive-in movies, 5K charity fun runs and monthly car shows

- Cabbagetown Park (723 Carpenter Ave.)
- Maplewood Park (201 Maplewood St.)
- Old Village School (405 W. Main St.)
- Joe Denton Park (Seven Mile and Eaton Dr.)

- Community Band shell and placemaking area

Marv Gans Community Park – 15801 Beck Rd. (119 acres)
- Community Dog Park @ Marv Gans Park added in 2021

Millennium Park – 45769 Six Mile Rd. (34 acres)
- Unity Skatepark @ Millennium Park – This park opened in 2023 @ Millennium Park

Cady Street Dog Park – 215 W. Cady St. (1 acre)
- Popular community asset

Fish Hatchery Park – 45801 Seven Mile on the Johnson Creek (17 acres)
- Grounds with a historic past (First National Fish Hatchery site)

Coldwater Springs Nature Area – Ridge Road (128 acres)
- Nature trail and boardwalk system run along the “Holy Waters” of Johnson Creek.

Henningsen Park – 41600 Six Mile (3 acres)
- Playground area and walking trails abound in this serene escape for nature lovers

Sheldon Road Park – On Sheldon between Five and Six Mile (4 acres)
- Play structure and benches featured next to walking path

Thayer’s Corner Nature Area – 8250 Napier Rd. (57 acres)
- 100 community gardens, a restored 1850’s barn, a historic school and more

Veteran’s Memorial Park @ Waterford Woods (16 acres)
- Township’s memorial to war veterans – once part of the historic Waterford community

Legacy Park – Seven Mile (350 acres)
- Trails and community recreational opportunities are being developed and activated


Henry and Clara Ford relaxed here in Northville starting in the 1880s, Joe Louis jogged the trails of Hines Drive, Mr. Maybury plotted the pathways around what is now the state park, and the Fish Hatchery Park was laid out in the 1800s. Northville has the open spaces and waterways to enjoy the greenery of life. I encourage you to experience these beautiful placemaking areas in the Ville known historically as the “Hamlet in the Hills” or “Switzerland of Wayne County.”
