Since opening its doors in 1954, L.J. Griffin Funeral Home has grown into one of Michigan’s largest and most respected family-owned funeral firms. “We have been serving families for over 75 years,” said David Griffin, longtime president of L.J. Griffin Funeral Home. “Even before COVID, our vision for the Northville location was to create a space where families could hold services and gather for a luncheon or dinner all in one place. We wanted to remove the stress of coordinating multiple venues during an already emotional time.”

The pandemic temporarily slowed those plans, but the mission to ease burdens for grieving families never wavered. Last year the project was revived, with renewed focus on creating a welcoming, thoughtful environment.

“We really wanted to do it right,” Griffin explained. “Bringing in Beth Larabee was an important step. She understood our vision, helped coordinate caterers and played a key role in designing a layout that truly works for families.”

Located at 19091 Northville Road, the newly completed banquet space accommodates up to 100 guests, offering families a comfortable setting to gather, share memories and support one another. A large television monitor allows for personalized memorial slideshows and home videos, creating meaningful and unique tributes that celebrate each life story.

“When we meet with families, we are sharing in their grief,” said Larabee, one of the funeral home’s dedicated counselors. “Our goal is to take as much off their plate as possible so they can focus on healing. Food has a way of bringing people together – it’s comforting and familiar – and this space allows families to continue celebrating their loved one in a warm, supportive environment. Our caterers provide exceptional quality with a wide variety of options.”

True to its reputation for full-service care, L.J. Griffin Funeral Home manages every detail of the reception experience – from ordering and setup to hosting and cleanup.
