Ready for a Long Winter's Nap? Not at Maybury Farm!
Published in 2025 Northville Today Fourth Quarter

As falling leaves give way to falling snow, Maybury Farm continues its work. While the farm is closed to visitors, our farmers work diligently – there are animals to feed, groom and some to prepare for the colder winter months. And we are all preparing for our special winter event, Holiday Fun & Santa Visits! You’ll enjoy holiday music and decorations, crafts, shopping for unique gifts in our old-fashioned General Store, and our farm animals will be happy to see visitors back at the farm!
Santa, in his antique sleigh in our holiday-decorated barn, will be ready to hear your child’s wish list. One of Santa’s elves will be there to help you snap photos of your visit. Our reservation system allows for a shorter wait and an unrushed visit with Santa. Be sure to dress for the cold weather – most of our festivities take place outside and our animals hope you’ll stop to say hello! Take time to warm up at the bonfire with a cup of hot cocoa.
Plan to celebrate Valentine’s Day with us and enjoy special valentine-themed games, crafts and activities. Spread the love when you make valentines for your family, friends or even your favorite farm animal!
Weekends in March bring our popular Making Maple Syrup Tours.
The tour starts with a bumpy wagon ride out to the farm’s “sugarbush”, where you’ll walk into the woods to learn which maple trees produce sap, when and how it flows and how to tap and collect it. Then you’ll ride back to the “sugarshack” to watch the process, learning how the sap becomes delicious maple syrup – you’ll even get to sample the finished product! This fun and educational tour tends to sell out – reservations are not required but are a good idea as wagon seating and days are limited. Don’t forget to dress for the unpredictable Michigan weather.
Our educators, in addition to leading the Maple Syrup Tours, will be busy planning next season’s tours, camps and classes. They’ll also be working to expand our Private Experience Program, which started in late 2025. With lots of interest in our first offering – Care and Feeding of the Animals – expect to hear more about additional hands-on experiences to be offered! At Maybury Farm, we strive to create fun and engaging opportunities for all ages to learn about life on a Michigan farm!
Donations welcome!
During this season of giving, you may receive a request or see online posts asking for your support in the form of a monetary donation to The Northville Community Foundation and Maybury Farm. We hope you’ll consider making a donation – any amount, large or small, will be put to good use and make an impact.
Remember, working with the NCF, your dollars not only support Maybury Farm but also the local community through grants to nonprofits and scholarships for high school seniors and undergrads. In fact, you can even specify where you’d like your dollars to be spent.
We couldn’t do it without you
Thank you for your support in 2025 – whether you visited the farm, became a new member or renewed your membership, took a tour or participated in an event or program, donated, volunteered, shopped, or simply spread the word, you helped make a difference for Maybury Farm and the community!
Please watch our website – mayburyfarm.org – for upcoming events, news and opportunities to support our work. From all of us at Maybury Farm – have a happy, healthy holiday season and new year!
