A New Name for Healthy Living Expo

After a successful launch in 2024, Northville Senior Services is gearing up for its second Fifty North Healthy Living Expo – an event dedicated to supporting healthy, active aging in the community. This year’s expo, which sports a new name, will take place Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Northville Community Center.
“Last year’s event was a huge success, and this year we’re making it even better!” said Senior Services Superintendent Debbie Giulianelli-Smith. “We’re excited to create opportunities for learning and engagement, connect our senior residents with valuable local resources and inspire them with new ideas for living well. The Expo also highlights the many programs and services we’re proud to offer at Northville Senior Services.”
The vitality of the community led to the new name. Adding “Fifty North” captures the vibrancy of those age 50 and older who enjoy being both active and proactive when it comes to their health, as well as connecting with others.
Similar to last year, local businesses will be in attendance focusing on information and services for people to age in place and enhance quality of life. Returning supporting sponsor, Yvette Staton, owner of Oasis Seniors Advisors said, “Last year's experience was not only enlightening, it ignited a deeper purpose in me to serve and empower our families through education and community connection.”
Free registration offers participants access to more than 30 vendor tables, Wayne Mobile Health Unit providing preventive health screenings, flu and COVID vaccines (subject to availability), and there will be an introduction to fitness classes with instructor demos. It’s a great opportunity to learn, explore and discover new ways to stay healthy and connected.
“The goal of healthy aging is more than just longevity,” said Health and Wellness Specialist Deborah Davison. “Seniors want to maintain a A New Name for Healthy Living Expo Northville Senior Services good quality of life and remain independent as they grow older. This event gives them the space to learn, ask questions and have fun discovering new ways to stay active and socially connected.”
From noon-1:30 p.m., a delicious, healthy boxed lunch from Apple Spice will be served, and attendees will hear from a motivational speaker and have a chance to win one of many raffle prizes! Thanks to the generous support of presenting sponsor, The Village Doctor at Cherry Hill, tickets are just $8 for residents and $10 for non-residents. Registration for lunch ends September 27.
“Along with a tasty, nutritious meal, the lunch offers participants a chance to connect and engage with one another,” said Julie Wheeler, recreation specialist for Senior Services. “There’s a wealth of research highlighting how vital social interaction is to the well-being of older adults. When you add an engaging motivational speaker to the mix, it is the perfect way to wrap up a day dedicated to healthy living.”
