CareGuard Home Safety provides accessible home modifications

CareGuard Accesibility Ramp

During Anthony Contratto’s time in theconstruction industry, he repeatedly encountered individuals in need of safety equipment and accessible modifications to be able to live comfortably and safely in their own homes.

From simple accessibility solutions like bathroom grab bars to outdoor wheelchair ramps, Contratto realized the need was prevalent and decided to shift the focus of his business to help meet that need.

“We saw so many people in need, so we figured we’d focus on safety modifications for anybody and everybody rather than home complete remodels like we were doing before,” Contratto said.

In December 2025, CareGuard Home Safety was established to create safe home environments for seniors, individuals with mobility challenges and families planning ahead.

“We saw people waiting weeks and weeks and paying outrageous amounts of money to be able to stay in a rehab center or nursing facility while they waited for their homes to be ready,” Contratto explained.

As a business focusing solely on accessible home safety modifications, CareGuard aims to eliminate the lengthy waiting period many people face when having to modify their home, especially after an injury or returning from the hospital.

“We’re trying to bridge that gap to where when peopleare trying to get home, they can actually get home quickly,” Contratto said.

CareGuard specializes in accessibility and fall prevention modifications, including grab bars and safety rails, walk-in and curbless showers, wheelchair ramps, door widening, stair and hallway handrails and other general ADAcompliant modifications.

Beyond installation alone, CareGuard provides each client with a personalized approach from start to finish.

The process starts with a free home safety assessment, where a CareGuard specialist makes a visit to the client’s home to identify potential hazards and accessibility challenges and to set objectives for independent living.

Then, clients will receive a detailed written recommendation and transparent, no-obligation cost estimate to help them determine their next steps.

Collaboration is a key component of CareGuard’s approach. The business works closely with home care agencies, nurses, case managers, social workers and medical equipment providers to create safer living environments that support both clients and caregivers.

“We work side by side with a lot of home care companies that care for the patient and see them every day,” Contratto explained. “They take care of the patient and we take care of the home.”

As a local, family-owned business, CareGuard is dedicated to treating every client like their own family and operates with respect, integrity and transparency.

The business is licensed and insured, and each team member is thoroughly background checked and vetted with experience working in sensitive environments, including in homes with seniors, individuals with medical conditions and care facilities.

Recognizing that cost is a main barrier for many families requiring home safety modifications, CareGuard actively seeks out partnerships with local nonprofit organizations to help offset costs for those in need.

“We like to go out of our way to find options for people to get what they need,” Contratto said. “It’s not always about the money. It’s about taking care of the people that took care of us.”
