When residents or prospective residents walk through Abbey Park at Mill River’s doors, they are met with a sense of comfort and belonging.

Administrator Kristi Reed knows that independence looks different for everyone, and that’s why Abbey Park is committed to meeting the unique needs of each resident.

“We go out of our way to try to make our residents as comfortable as we can in the new place they call home because home is a feeling, not so much a place,” Reed said.

Abbey Park is not an assisted living community but an independent senior living community, with assistance available if needed. While residents are left to be independent in the comfort of their own apartments, they can take solace in the fact that assistance is available to them 24/7.

“We have people who are able to come in and help so that our residents are not alone when they need assistance,” Reed said.

In addition, each resident receives a medical emergency alert pendant, which is equipped with a button that can be pressed if they fall or need medical help. The option of additional care is available to all with around-the-clock, fully staffed personal care providers on site.

Residents can also design their own personal assistance plans that can include anything from check-ins, breakfast delivery, bathing assistance, assistance to and from meals, medication reminders and more. Family members can take comfort in knowing that their loved ones are treated like family at Abbey Park.

“Abbey Park allows my dad to have some freedom while providing a very nice, safe environment for him. He gets to go downstairs and enjoy time with the friends he’s made, and the staff checks on him five times a day,” said Luigi Folino, whose 98-year-old father has been a resident for the past seven years.

No matter how relaxed or active one’s lifestyle is, everybody has a place at Abbey Park. From planned activities like crafts or bingo, exercising in the fitness center, reading a book in the library, visiting the country store or enjoying the indoor lounge areas or outdoor courtyards, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Abbey Park provides the best of both worlds, where independence meets unprecedented care and comfort. Residents are provided with daily light housekeeping, nutritious meals, transportation, professional care and more, all at affordable rates.

“We’re that rural independent living that’s off the road but super convenient to the expressway,” Reed said.

With resident satisfaction at the forefront, warm and friendly caregivers, administrative, housekeeping and food service staff make it their mission to make every day the best day for the residents they serve and the community they are a part of.
