With plenty of daycare and preschool options out there – families in our community often wonder: “How do we choose the best option for our child?”

When The Learning Experience first opened its doors in South Lyon in December of 2006, it was the sixth of now over 350 facilities nationwide. For over 17 years, this locally owned, state-of-the-art childcare center has had a positive impact on the lives of the children, families and the community of South Lyon.

From six weeks through toddler and preschool age – all the way to before and after school care for school agers – some little learners have been part of our TLE family for as long as they can remember.

“One of our staff members started as one of our little learners and is now part of our amazing team of passionate educators,” said Ms. Melissa, center director at The Learning Experience – South Lyon Township.

Currently, registration is ongoing for summer camp 2024, featuring hands-on and project-based learning opportunities, field trips to parks, movies and museums, fun in-house activities and friendships that hopefully last forever.

“Our program is offered all year round but my favorite of the year is probably Summer Camp, when many little learners who have long graduated from their preschool time join us back for a summer of happiness,” added Ms. Lauren, assistant director at The Learning Experience – South Lyon, who joined the program 13 years ago.

Our L.E.A.P curriculum comes to life with the help of our lovable mascots, who teach sign language, kindness, music, art, physical fitness, phonics, foreign language, science, math and so much more!

Children call us “The Elephant School” referring to Bubbles, the main mascot of The Learning Experience. He takes the little ones on adventures every day and has had some very special appearances at many local community events throughout the years. From being named Grand Marshall of the South Lyon Pawrade, to making appearances at the annual Pumpkinfest parade, and attending fundraisers for local charities, to our national annual Make-a-Wish campaigns.

For many first-time parents, curriculum for a newborn sounds very overwhelming and out of place, but the moment their child starts using sign language to let them know they want “milk” or “more” is one of the precious memories that they will keep forever.

“It’s like becoming part of the family, when a child joins my classroom,” added Ms. Heather, who has been part of the TLE team for 13 years. “Each child learns at their own pace, and our curriculum allows them to participate in each hands-on activity and use their own creativity.”

That first day of school is made as reassuring as possible, as our caring teachers await the little one’s first day with lots of cuddles and hands-on activities. All precious moments are shared throughout the day with The Learning Experience’s Bubbles & Friends App, so that mom and dad have peace of mind that their child is in the best care possible.

The Learning Experience on Pontiac Trail opened its doors in 2021 and allowed even more families in our community to experience the best care for their little ones.
