This spring, Fiamma Grill and Bar (formerly Fiamma Grille) will be making its return to downtown Plymouth, but this time with a whole new look.

“We will be essentially a brand new Fiamma Grill and Bar but still holding on to the consistent quality and level of food and service that customers have come to expect from the Yaquinto family of restaurants over the last 24 years,” said Ryan Yaquinto, owner of Fiamma Grill and Bar, Compari's on the Park and the Sardine Room.

Yaquinto explained that in the restaurant industry, “if you’re not moving forward, you’re moving backwards.”

Frank and Maureen Yaquinto got started in the industry when they opened Paisano’s Pizza in Dearborn in the 1970s. Twenty-four years ago, they opened Compari's, and Fiamma and the Sardine Room 19 and 13 years ago, respectively. The couple has since retired, and their children, Ryan and Julia, have taken the reins on the family’s restaurant business.

The family refreshed Compari's two years ago, they evolve the menu at Sardine Room regularly, and renovation plans for Fiamma Grill and Bar have actually been in the works since before COVID, but now the Yaquintos have been able to revisit their plans to upgrade the space.

The new Fiamma features a brand-new menu, bar and full interior remodel.

“Menu-wise, we would bill ourselves as an elevated American grille with an approachable and simply prepared menu in an inviting contemporary ambiance,” Yaquinto said.

Fiamma’s scratch menu will consist of classic flavor profiles, including chargrilled, hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood and light bites, along with contemporary favorites. The new bar will feature classic and creative cocktails as well as a well-curated wine list.

One thing customers might notice right off the bat when they walk into Fiamma Grill and Bar is the white linen tablecloths are gone. While still beautiful, the setting is more approachable than it was a few years ago with dark paint, exposed brick, wood accents, comfortable seating, an inviting bar area and live music on select dates.

“People can come here and expect a quality meal with friends and family in an elevated contemporary dining room without paying high prices in a formal setting,” Yaquinto said.

During the restaurant’s closure the past couple years, Fiamma’s space was still being used for some Compari's seating, along with private events and banquets.

Now, part of Fiamma’s remodel includes a divider system that will allow for the restaurant to be sectioned off for private and semi-private events that the Yaquinto family of restaurants have become well known for.

With the new space, the Yaquintos’ goal is to be able to continue serving the community with even more options for hosting bridal showers, baby showers, wakes, rehearsal dinners and more.

“This is mine and Julia’s opportunity to carry forward the legacy that the family has built and also bring in a little energy and youth to the city as well,” Yaquinto said.

Future plans for the Yaquintos include continuing to expand their investment in the community by opening a new restaurant up the road called The Drift, which will revolve around live music and have an easygoing neighborhood vibe.
