As a restaurant owner, Stefan Stefanakis takes pride in providing his customers with unique dining experiences, high-quality food and extraordinary service.

For many years, Stefanakis saw success with the popular Greek Islands Eatery that formerly occupied 306 S. Main Street, where The Ledger now operates, but he and his business partner decided to keep up with the times and broaden their horizons.

The building The Ledger now occupies is home to Plymouth’s First National Bank and the new restaurant’s name plays on its bank history in an effort to keep the historical value of the cornerstone property at the forefront.

In conjunction with The Ledger, Stefanakis also owns The Ebenezer, a speakeasy located in the basement of the building. The Ebenezer was named after Ebenezer J. Penniman, the first president of the First National Bank in 1871, and is hidden in plain sight off Fleet Street.

The speakeasy holds just as much history as the former bank above, where the old vaults serve as The Ebenezer’s private tasting room. The 4,000 square feet of perfectly balanced Roaring Twenties and 2020’s ambiance serves craft cocktails, wine, craft beer and small plates.

Stefanakis wanted to “create something more special, more upscale and higher end for this incredible space and location,” and now that the entire building has been elevated to reflect Stefanakis’s goal to provide a whole new experience to Downtown Plymouth – there will be a seamless transition from having a high-quality meal upstairs for dinner followed by a late-night drink at The Ebenezer.

The Ledger officially opened its doors at the end of February and is proud to be able to provide a whole new experience to Downtown Plymouth with the high-end, eclectic menu and craft cocktails.

When they step through the old bank doors of The Ledger, Stefanakis hopes customers will get a big-city restaurant experience right at home in the charming, small town of Plymouth.

“I want people to feel like they just walked into a restaurant in New York City,” he said.

The modern, eclectic and upscale atmosphere as well as the elevated menu are sure to do just that.

Executive chef Greg Alexiev crafted the modern-fare menu with a “focus on high-quality ingredients from local purveyors.”

The Ledger offers appetizers like flights of Wagyu beef, charred octopus and tuna tartare.

Entrees include classics like the cheeseburger, chicken paprikash or prime rib, but also eclectic recipes like soy caramel scallops, wild mushroom stroganoff or an 80-ounce double bone-in tomahawk steak meant for sharing.

For dessert, embrace the bank theme and enjoy a “crack the vault” warm butter cake with strawberry coulis, berries and a tempered chocolate dome or a “safety deposit” featuring warming spices, carrot puree, pineapple, toasted coconut and rum caramel.

The drink menu consists of several specialty craft cocktails, classic cocktails, craft beer and a large wine list to accompany any meal.
