Communities are strongest when people come together with a shared purpose. That spirit was on full display last April during the inaugural Thriving Together Action Day, where nonprofits, local businesses, municipalities, community leaders, and volunteers united to make a lasting impact across Downriver.

Led by the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber, the event brought together 14 participating nonprofit organizations offering projects that ranged from gardening and construction to organizing donations, sorting clothing, and supporting community improvement efforts. More than 150 volunteers dedicated their time to making a difference, demonstrating the power of service and collaboration.

Volunteer projects took place simultaneously across the region—from River Rouge and Dearborn Heights in the north, to Romulus in the west, Wyandotte along the riverfront, and south to Brownstown—highlighting the shared commitment of communities throughout Downriver to invest in one another.

Together, volunteers contributed approximately 600 hours of community service, creating an impact that will continue to benefit local organizations and the residents they serve long after the day concluded.
