The Canton Farmers Market is pleased to announce they’ve moved to its brand-new 70-foot by 30-foot pavilion in Preservation Park, located at 500 N. Ridge Road.

This rustic structure was constructed out of 35,000 pounds of Douglas Fir beams and Oak wooden pins using a traditional Scandinavian style of joining timbers and wooden pins by means of giant oak mallets to create a durable and aesthetically pleasing structure that will be used for all future farmer markets, as well as special community events.

Here you can find a wide assortment of Michigan grown fruits and vegetables as well as specialty products from local vendors every Sunday, now through October 12, rain or shine from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Market will be closed August 31 and September 28).

“All of our market staff are thrilled to be able to unveil this gorgeous new pavilion to our vendors and patrons that we’re sure everyone will love,” said Canton Recreation Coordinator Chelsea Straub. “We’re confident that this new pavilion, along with additional site improvements, will enhance an already positive and vibrant experience for our marketgoers.”

Further improvements made to this seven-acre park include the addition of a new storage building and hard surface accessible parking areas near two site pavilions. Added enhancements will be made to all the historic buildings located throughout Preservation Park in the coming months, including the replacement of a significant amount of wood planking, and ramp and pillar replacements at the Bartlett Travis House, which is an historic property that was originally built in 1838 and moved to this park setting in 1988.

All these significant renovations were funded by Wayne County SLFRF (State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds), which is part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), as well as a Wayne County Parks Millage, and Canton Township.

In addition to a variety of fresh local produce, marketgoers can also take advantage of artisanal goods, unique finds, educational information and much more.

Contributing to the festive atmosphere of this open-air venue is the unique lineup of entertainers, as well as a variety of rotating food trucks. Visitors to the farmers market can also watch for family-friendly themes with special activities.

The Canton Farmers Market also supports food assistance programs, including SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks, Senior Project Fresh, and WIC Produce Connection. Please note, Farmers Market staff will continue to manage EBT transactions at their information table for SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks tokens.
