Angel Food Catering hosts Craft Show, Corn & Cider Fest in September
By Judy and Mike Maynard, Owners of Angel Food Catering

Angel Food Catering’s Craft Show, Corn and Cider Fest all started during COVID in 2020. Our team wanted to showcase our food and love of events. We also wanted to offer an opportunity for other small businesses to make sales and for local families to have a safe, outdoor experience when the world was locked down. So we thought, why not create an event using our space here at Angel Food?
We reached out on social media and procured many vendors, pony rides from a local farm, corn from Budd’s produce stand down the street, apple cider and donuts from several local orchards, and we also contacted the Van Buren Fire Department to see if they would bring a fire truck.
We expected maybe 100-200 guests. Needless to say, we were blown away when around 600 people showed up.
It felt good to have success and see so many smiling faces.
Families brought their children to play, eat, drink cider and browse the vendor tables. We had set up a fall backdrop and many took advantage of it and had their pictures taken.
While Angel Food enjoyed seeing the community come together, we had to take a hiatus from our festival in 2021 and 2022 due to our increased event schedule.
In 2023, we circled a date on the calendar to bring our festival back for the community to enjoy. We decided we wanted to make it a yearly event from then on.
Now, Van Buren Township Fire and Police come out and bring their vehicles, firefighters and police officers. It is a big hit for the kids to get into the vehicles, turn the lights on and interact with our local heroes.
To eliminate parking issues, we team up with our friends from Holiday Inn Express on the N. I-94 Service Drive in Belleville to help extend parking, with a shuttle going between their parking lot and our festival. The shuttle drivers and team at Holiday Inn Express are wonderful partners for this event.
We have about 40 crafters with a variety of different unique items, jewelry, handmade items, home decor and seasonal items. Perfect for early Christmas shopping or stocking stuffers! This is also a great way to meet our neighbors in Van Buren Township, Belleville, Canton, Romulus and Ypsilanti.
We at Angel Food Catering are humble and grateful for the catering business you all trust us with, and our 52 employees want to say thanks to all of you in the community.
This event is one way of giving back. We also donate to HOPE Clinic in Ypsilanti, Circles through Friends in Deed, Guiding Harbor, Ronald McDonald House and juvenile diabetes, to name a few. Some of the proceeds from this event will benefit these wonderful services.
We are now about to embark on our sixth year of the festival, and are very excited and hope to see you out having fun at our Craft Show, Corn and Cider Fest.
Blessings to you all!
