That's how Dr. Jennifer Warren sums up her relationship and passion for the Allen Park School District. From a young student at Arno Elementary and then Allen Park Middle School before graduating from Allen Park High School to becoming school board president, Dr. Warren has been a “Jag” all her life and understands what is to be a student, teacher and leader in your hometown.

“While I am the board president, I am only one person on a board of seven amazing individuals,” said Dr. Warren, who was appointed to the school board in 2018 and was elected by the community again in 2020. “I only have one vote, and it does not count as more. I believe it is the team that makes up the board, we just have some different roles to be able to effectively run meetings.”

As the board president, Dr. Warren’s role is to lead the board and ensure the overall direction of the school district aligns with the needs of the students, staff and community.

“We are a group of amazing people, working together to help our district succeed and excel in our mission,” she said. “We each bring something unique to the table and it is fun working with every one of them.”

During her time on the school board, Dr. Warren has already filled up a chalkboard of proud accomplishments, including the approval of a five-year teacher contract and helping pass a bond that allows the schools to provide better academic and athletic facilities for the community.

“From the stem labs, the building and technology improvements, to the new athletic facilities – all have been wonderful accomplishments,” said Dr. Warren, who is the first AP School Board member to become a Michigan Association of School Board certified-board member. “I’m also proud of being a part of the upcoming new strategic plan so that we can keep providing our students with an uncompromising commitment to excellence. We still have many more projects to go, and I am happy to be a part of the team making it happen.”

Dr. Warren says one of her main goals is to be able to be transparent, foster collaboration and advocate for quality education and student success.

“I am also looking forward to getting the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) up and running so we can help educate the earliest learners and guide them on the path to educational success,” she said. “I am also going to have our board write out our own board goals for the year so we can also see our own improvement and what we may still need to work on for the future years.”

Dr. Warren, 46, earned a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Logan University. She has owned her own business (Allen Park Family Chiropractic) in Allen Park since 2008. She also teaches anatomy and physiology at Henry Ford College.

Allen Park schools are a family tradition for the Warren family – both past and present. Dr. Warren’s husband, Benjamin Warren (also an APHS graduate), is defensive coordinator for the JV football team, defensive line coach for varsity, and middle school wrestling coach. Their children, Logan (13), Brayden (11) and Declan (9) all attend AP schools.

Her three brothers, Ronald Mastropietro (Class of ‘94), Christopher Franco (Class of ‘97), and Michael Mastropietro (Class of 2020), and sister, Salina Mastropietro (Class of 2018), all graduated from APHS. Dr. Warren’s parents, Ronald Mastropietro and Sherry (Rademacher) Mastropietro, graduated from APHS in 1974.
