A special congratulations goes out to the women's swim and dive team on its accomplishments this season! The individual highlight of the season was freshman phenom, Miranda Phelps, for being named the 2025 MHSAA Division 1 State Champion in the backstroke.

Leading up to the state finals, Miranda swam the previous day at Oakland University, and qualified for the finals in the preliminary round in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke. She qualified in eighth place in the fly and fourth place in the back to earn her spot the next day in the finals.

At the finals, Miranda broke her own school record in the butterfly, with a time of 57.03, earning her all-state honors and a fifth-place finish overall. In the backstroke, Miranda swam another school record, breaking a time of 56.07, and took the podium as the champion in this event.

During the course of the season Miranda broke many Belleville High School records, including the 21-year-old 100 butterfly record, with a time of 57.03; the 40-year-old 100 freestyle record, with a time of 52.97; and the 40-year-old 100 backstroke record, with a time of 56.07.

Overall the team also had many highlights on the season. It had a winning record and finished fourth in the KLAA East Division.

At the KLAA Championship meet, the team earned a first-place finish in the 200-medley relay, with a new Belleville Tigers Athletics school record of 1:55.92, and swam away with a fourth-place finish overall.

Swimmers Sadie Ethridge, Keira Frederick, Miranda Phelps and Natalie Hungerford now hold the Belleville High School record that stood for over 25 years in this event. Belleville also earned first place in the 400 free relay, with a team of Miranda Phelps, Sadie Ethridge, Keira Frederick and Abby Cichowski.

Not only did the team do well in the relays, but it also turned in some of its best times of the season individually. Led by seniors and captains Alexis Champagne and Abby Cichowski, the 13 members of the team showed tremendous time drops from the beginning of the season! Sadie Ethridge earned a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley, with Miranda Phelps earning the top spots in both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.
