Early Childhood and Kindergarten in Gibraltar School District

At Gibraltar School District, we believe a strong beginning makes all the difference. Our early childhood and kindergarten programs are thoughtfully designed to support young learners academically, socially and emotionally, setting the stage for long -term success in school and beyond.
Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)
Located at the Rockwood Early Childhood Building, our Great Start Readiness Program offers a high-quality, fullday preschool experience led by certified teachers. This research-based program focuses on early literacy, socialemotional development and school readiness, while also providing nutritious meals and meaningful opportunities for family engagement. GSRP is available to qualifying families, helping ensure access to strong early learning opportunities for our community.
Champions Preschool: Learning Through Play
Champions Preschool provides a warm, engaging environment where children learn through hands-on exploration. With learning centers that include language, math, science, art, music, technology, dramatic play, and gross motor activities, students develop confidence, creativity and collaboration skills. Caring teachers guide children at their own pace, helping them build both academic foundations and positive character traits as they prepare for elementary school.
Full-Day Kindergarten and Young Fives
Gibraltar proudly offers full-day kindergarten and a fullday Young Fives program, giving every child the time and support they need to thrive. Students benefit from individualized literacy instruction, updated classroom materials, weekly specials such as art, music, physical education, and STEMtech, and purposeful use of 1:1 technology.
Our Young Fives program, now in its 49th year, is a free, full-day option for children who may benefit from additional time to grow socially, emotionally or academically before entering traditional kindergarten.
A Memorable Start: Mock Signing Day
To celebrate this important milestone, Gibraltar hosts a kindergarten and Young Fives Mock Signing Day. Students meet their teachers, sign a certificate and officially “commit” to starting school, creating excitement and easing the transition for our youngest learners.
Building Bright Futures Together
With dedicated educators, innovative programming and a strong sense of community, Gibraltar School District is proud to provide exceptional early learning experiences that help children begin their educational journey with confidence and joy.
