Since opening its doors in June 2019, Artistic Pets has become a Livonia staple for pet owners who are looking for more than routine grooming for their furry friends.

With certified groomers who treat each pet like their own, Artistic Pets operates a cage-free salon designed to reduce pet stress and offers everything from traditional grooming services to fun, colorful styles, all with safety, comfort and compassion at the forefront.

Owner Sharol Aguilar discovered her love and passion for animals early in life.

“I grew up with all kinds of animals,” she said. “Dogs, iguanas, snakes, birds – just everything.”

When she was younger, Aguilar dreamed of becoming a vet, but with the high cost of vet school she decided to go to grooming school to see how she’d like it.

“I ended up falling in love with it,” she said.

That love shines through in every aspect of Artistic Pets. While the shop specializes in dog grooming, Aguilar is also certified to groom other small animals like rabbits and reptiles – a rarity in the traditional pet grooming world.

Full-service grooms for animals of all sizes include a bath with premium shampoo and conditioner, hand dry services, a brush out, nail trim and file, ear cleaning, sanitary trim and haircut.

The shop also offers partial grooming, de-shedding and a la carte services like baths, nail trims (including reptile nail trims), ear cleaning, tick removal and add-ons like skunk and flea baths, gland expression and teeth brushing. Aguilar also offers in-home boarding.

On the creative side, Artistic Pets offers color treatment using pet-safe hair dye available for either accents or full body color as well as pet-safe nail polish.

After grooming, clients can also opt for a photoshoot add-on with Artistic Pet Portraits – a new offering at the shop. Perfect for keepsakes or holiday cards, this service includes a mini photoshoot with a themed, seasonal backdrop, a four-by-six photo with frame and three digital photos.

Artistic Pets also has its own boutique offering a large assortment of pet clothes, toys, leashes, collars, harnesses, treats, accessories and grooming supplies available for purchase.
