Samantha Lewis is known around town for caring about her clients.

“A mission for educating consumers is what I have built into my small business as an insurance advisor,” she said. “That hand to hold during what is typically a headache-inducing process – my motto is providing clarity and confidence.”

Lewis went out on her own in 2022 with MI Healthcare Plans, creating a space where people feel comfortable talking about their situation and needs, and knowing that their best interests are at the forefront.

“We are not your typical insurance office,” said Lewis, who rebranded MI Healthcare Plans to the Samantha Lewis Agency earlier this year. “I am appointed with every single health insurance carrier in Michigan, so I can support whatever their choice – I give my recommendation, but they are the ones that have the insurance card in their wallet. I will recommend what is best for them – even if it means telling them to keep what they have.”

Lewis usually starts her conversation with a new client by asking, “Who are the doctors you know and trust – let's make sure we choose a plan that includes them.”

For every other type of insurance, Lewis has partnered with Farmers Insurance.

“I have many options available in getting them the coverage that makes the most sense for them – coverage and budget-wise,” she said.

A lifelong resident of Livonia, Lewis began her career working among corporate teams to create amazing customer engagement experiences in the retail and mortgage industries. She got into insurance by serendipity.

“The mortgage company I had worked at for about 10 years doing customer retention and customer engagement went out of business,” she said. “I wanted to forge my own path rather than relying on someone else for my livelihood. My own health broker, who had been my go-to for insight for many years, suggested to me that it may be my style. I wanted to feel like I was making a difference for regular people.

“I’m so happy that I have grown to have a team that believes in that same mission – succeeding by doing what’s in the best interest of our customers in the long run.”

A member of the Livonia-Westland Chamber of Commerce, Samantha Lewis Agency is actively involved in making their neighborhood stronger through volunteer work and local partnerships. They are currently involved with the Council for Action on Aging, Livonia Historical Society, Friends of Livonia Arts, Rotary Volunteer Corps, and the Detroit Zoo, among others.

“As businesses – no matter the size – we succeed because of the people who choose to interact with us, listen to us, and support us,” she said. “And there is no better place to grow a business than our community. I pay forward that support by volunteering with some of my favorite organizations – believing in a healthy ecosystem of community, family and business working together.”
