South Lyon Fine Arts Society is a nonprofit organization founded for the purpose of promotion, education, appreciation and the practice of visual arts in South Lyon and the surrounding areas.
The society members meet the second Tuesday of every month from 5:30-7:45 p.m., September through May, at the Salem South Lyon District Library in the main meeting room. All meetings are open to the public, 18 and over, for viewing if you want to check them out before you join.
If you would like to participate in the meeting, membership is $35 a year, beginning January 2026. Member meetings will open to the patrons of the library when instructors allow.
Anyone interested in attending a meeting or becoming a member can contact the society at southlyonfineartssociety@ gmail.com or call (248) 667-8540. You can also message them on Facebook! They are always looking for volunteers and you do not need to be an artist to join.
SLFAS finished out 2025 with a fun white elephant game to celebrate the holiday, snacks and drinks, and members worked on arts and crafts that were brought from home. To begin 2026, they will be teaching watercolor, collage and mixed media, along with gearing up for a July art show by teaching how to prepare for hanging your 2D artwork.
