Alumni Spotlight

What have you been up to since you graduated from SLCS?
After graduating from SLHS in 2008, I attended Washtenaw Community College before transferring to Central Michigan University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and cinematic arts. During college, I interned at iHeartMedia and Fox 2, gaining hands-on experience in the industry.
After graduation, I was hired to work on Jay Towers in the Morning on 100.3 WNIC. Since then, I've grown into the role of executive producer and co-host of the show alongside Jay Towers and Allyson Martinek. My dream job!
One of the most meaningful parts of our work is Jay's Juniors, a program where we take children with chronic or terminal illnesses on an all-expenses-paid trip to Disney World right before Christmas. It’s incredibly special to be part of something that brings so much joy to these families.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my dog, Shelby, at our home in South Lyon, hanging out with my family and trying new restaurants!
How did your experience at SLCS prepare you for life after school?
I really enjoyed my time at SLHS! I had so many teachers who made a positive impact on my life. My favorite class was TV 2 and reading the school announcements. It was the perfect practice for my career!
What advice would you give students who are graduating in 2026?
Soak in every moment! This is such a special time in your life. You’ll have plenty of time for stress and responsibilities later, so for now, enjoy making memories with your friends and family. Take risks, challenge yourself and never give up on your dreams!
