This fall, the Brownstown Downtown Development Authority and the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber continued their shared tradition of celebrating growth, connection and community pride through a series of ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Each event marked not just a business milestone but a reminder of what makes Brownstown Township thrive: hardworking entrepreneurs, local support and a collective commitment to progress. From health and wellness to family fun and homeownership, the final quarter of the year has been one of excitement and community spirit.

MotionWorks Physical Therapy – September 25

At 23115 Telegraph Road, a new chapter in local wellness began with the grand opening of MotionWorks Physical Therapy. Owner Julie Khuong opened the doors to her state-of-theart facility, inviting community members to experience an innovative approach to movement, healing, and recovery.

MotionWorks is not your average physical therapy clinic. It is a space built around empowerment. Julie, a seasoned physical therapist, envisioned a place where patients could not only heal but learn to trust their bodies again. From injury rehabilitation to strength training and mobility work, her team offers customized programs designed to help every client move with purpose.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony included the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber and the Brownstown DDA. It drew local leaders, business owners and community members eager to welcome MotionWorks to the township. The event reflected more than a business opening. It was a celebration of health, perseverance and the growing network of women-owned businesses shaping Brownstown’s future.

Two Men and a Junk Truck – October 2

On October 2, a familiar Brownstown favorite reopened its doors, this time with a fresh add-on. Two Men and a Truck, located at 19001 Sibley Road, has long been a go-to name for quick and reliable moving service. Now, under the same leadership of franchisee Alan Oversmith, the business has added a junk removal service to help the Downriver area get rid of their unwanted junk.

The grand reopening event drew officials and fellow business owners to celebrate this exciting transformation. With the signature Two Men and a Junk dumpsters parked proudly out front, guests were welcomed by Alan and his crew, who shared their enthusiasm about offering expanded services including residential cleanouts, commercial removals and donation partnerships with local charities.

StoryWalk at Thorn Park – October 6

Families, educators and local leaders gathered at Thorn Park on October 6 for a ribbon cutting that blended imagination and movement. The grand opening of the Thorn Park StoryWalk, located at 21311 Telegraph Road, marked the launch of an outdoor reading experience designed to bring stories to life one page and one step at a time.

The event was hosted by the Brownstown DDA, The Trenton Veterans Memorial Library and the Friends of the Trenton Library. StoryWalk is an innovative program that places pages of a children’s book along a walking path, encouraging young readers and families to engage in literature while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. A big thank you goes out to the Friends of the Trenton Library for its generous donation and to DDA Project Coordinator Madison Hubbard for all her hard work in bringing this vision to life.

Ruoff Mortgage – October 7

Rounding out a busy month of celebrations, the Brownstown DDA and the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber welcomed Ruoff Mortgage to its new office at 19366 Allen Road on October 7. The grand opening introduced a company built on trust, expertise and a commitment to making homeownership simple and stress-free.

Led by Vice President and Branch Manager Dawn McCarty-Hoppes, the Brownstown branch brings Ruoff’s strong reputation for personalized service to the heart of Brownstown. The team prides itself on guiding clients through every step of the mortgage process with clarity and care, helping individuals and families find the best financial solutions for their unique goals.

The ribbon cutting drew a strong turnout from local township leaders and chamber partners, celebrating yet another example of business growth and community investment. Ruoff Mortgage’s arrival reflects the continued expansion of professional services in Brownstown and the township’s appeal as a place where both businesses and families can plant roots and flourish.

Each ribbon cutting this quarter showcased something special: dedication, creativity and the spirit of community that defines Brownstown. From innovative wellness and revitalized businesses to educational adventures and financial empowerment, the partnership between the Brownstown DDA and the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber continues to foster growth and unity. As the year draws to a close, these celebrations remind us that progress does not just happen. It is built, ribbon by ribbon, by people who care deeply about the place they call home.
