These past months, Brownstown Township came together to celebrate the importance of supporting local businesses through the Michigan Retailers Association’s Buy Nearby campaign and Small Business Saturday.

The Buy Nearby initiative, recognized throughout Michigan, encourages people to keep their dollars close to home. This year, the campaign served as a reminder that when residents choose to shop, dine and spend locally, they are helping Brownstown’s economy grow stronger. From picking out gifts at a local store to enjoying dinner at a family-owned restaurant, each purchase made a real difference for neighbors and friends.

Small Business Saturday is a national program held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving each year. This year, the local storefronts were filled with holiday cheer. Many businesses offered festive promotions, giveaways and treats to thank customers for their continued support. The day was not just about finding deals but about connecting with the people who make Brownstown such a vibrant place to live and work.

If you missed this year’s celebrations, make sure to mark your calendar for next year. Both Buy Nearby and Small Business Saturday will return next holiday season with even more opportunities to explore local shops, meet business owners and enjoy the warmth of shopping right here in Brownstown. Choosing to buy nearby is more than a seasonal tradition – it is a year-round investment in the future of our township and the people who call it home.
